INTERVIEW WITH MORIAH MARSTON

Wisdom Magazine, December 06 Issue

In the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts lives a woman who by all appearances is a youthful 50-something mainstream person. What you wouldn’t necessarily detect at first meeting, is that she also channels an entity know as Djwhal Khul (pronounced juwhal-kool) or The Tibetan. Together with her husband Zayne, Moriah runs the School of the Golden Discs which offers workshops based on the teachings of this approachable being whose words, as I have read them, seem grounded in practical reality. She is the author of the books "Earth School: A Fresh Perspective on the Human Condition" (her recently released compilation of Wisdom articles) and "Soul Searching With Djwhal Khul: The Tibetan" (an autobiographical exploration of her relationship with the Tibetan). She is also a regular columnist for Wisdom.

Wisdom: How do you balance yourself in terms of living a main stream life even as you channel the consciousness of this entity?

Moriah: Channeling is just a part of my life and therefore is balanced by my psychotherapy work, teaching, writing and piano playing. Because I’ve been channeling for 20 years, it’s integrated into my life. Initially when I started channeling, I felt too open and sensitive to all the surrounding energies. I’ve learned to reinforce my own sense of self in order to be available to the greater frequency of the Tibetan. A major challenge is physical grounding, taking really taking good care of my body, because channeling the Tibetan is an athletic event. It takes a lot of energy. Also, when I lined up with The Tibetan, the potency of his vibrations acted like a super-cleansing process for my own emotional and spiritual body. It brought up a lot of karmic issues that I had to plow through. Opening to channel creates an accelerated learning curve.

Wisdom: So, who is The Tibetan?

Moriah: He is one of the Ascended Masters; part of a group of advanced souls from the higher spiritual planes who work with humanity. He is known for the metaphysical teachings that he transmitted to Alice Bailey. He is called the “Great Psychologist." Because of his many incarnations on the planet he has a profound mastery of the human psyche which gives him a tremendous amount of compassion and sensitivity for what we are all going through. He helps us embrace the duality and other human challenges that we are working through at a psychological level. He is assisting with the consciousness revolution we are all currently experiencing.

Wisdom: How did you become a channel and when did you start doing this?

Moriah: Twenty years ago, a friend at school where I was doing graduate work told me about a channel visiting the Boston area and wanted to know if I was interested in a reading. I had never been to any channels at the time and it was just one of those synchronistic moments when my client canceled for the very time that this channel had an opening. Also, it was on my 37th birthday. She was channeling the Tibetan. As soon as I said hello, the first thing he said was "When are you going to let me in?" He reminded me that we had an agreement, a contract that I would channel him to help people on a soul level in this lifetime. Of course, I was completely stunned by this unexpected soul contract.  Channeling was the last thing on my mind at the time. He gave me 100 false beliefs to remove because I had a lot of issues around trust and opening myself at that level, fearful of losing control and blending with a greater energy than my own.  It took me about six months to clear out those false beliefs. I very gradually merged with his energy and began to trust him. It’s a very potent relationship and requires, on my part, a lot of ego surrender. I wanted to make sure that first of all, I wouldn’t go nuts and lose my mind -- to make sure that this was a real and valid process. That’s how I got inducted into the cosmic army, basically. I received my marching orders.

Wisdom: I’m glad you decided to follow them.

Moriah: They’re kind of non-negotiable.

Wisdom: Do you feel that everyone has the ability to channel?

Moriah: Yes, absolutely. I think it’s inherent in all of us. All the great composers, artists and inventors are channels. They receive from other dimensions and archetypal planes. The Tibetan encourages all of us to open our channels. This process has taught me that we can still have an ego but also align with higher guidance, more gifts and resources, and a much greater perspective on our human process.

Wisdom: What do you think has contributed to your perspective on the topics you discuss in Wisdom?

Moriah: I’ve had a psychotherapy practice for 23 years and have been blessed to talk to many people and travel deeply into the soul. My work has provided the opportunity to really listen to people and hear the repeating themes and issues that we all share. They surface again and again from different angles. The other resource for topics is my own process. Usually what I’m writing on in Wisdom is something that I need to be working through myself. I assume that if I’m going through something, then everybody else is as well.

Wisdom: Your life is the laboratory from which you speak and teach.

Moriah: Very much so. My own process and also being able to have that intimate vantage point from 23 years of exploring people’s souls; it’s very rich and such a privilege and honor.

Wisdom: How would you define ‘the new psychology’?

Moriah: It is soul-based. We are moving in that direction with Brian Weiss’ work (author of Many Lives, Many Masters). There’s much more investigation into ‘what is the soul?’ We’re looking psychologically, not just about childhood trauma and patterns, but past life material, the chronic patterns in the soul that have gone on for many lifetimes. All of those patterns usually get set up by age five. The imprint of our karma has been set into motion. Now we can track back to past lives; not that we have to relive them all, but there are pieces in there, such as chronic belief systems in the soul, that we have to unravel and work through. Also, as humanity advances, we will be challenging the collective unconscious and the agreed-upon false belief systems, for example ‘there’s not enough to go around.’ or ‘the Earth plane is a place of suffering.’ or ‘we all have to compete with each other.’

There of many people who are experiencing ‘spiritual emergence.’ This feels like a crisis in the psyche - an emergency.  Historically we have labeled people with pathology because of their symptoms of spiritual emergence.  We will be moving away from the pathological model into a greater understanding of the process of transformation of the psyche. This includes not medicating people which only represses the psycho-spiritual energy that is surfacing. My article, ‘The Divine Function of Depression,’ explores this issue.

I do a lot of dream work with people. Carl Jung was the great pioneer of our dreamscape. Our next step would be to explore dreams as portals into past life material, because although many people can’t remember past lives, they surface naturally through dream images. Also, we can explore our dreams as vehicles for working with the Masters and receiving guidance. We’re going to investigate the terrain beyond the ego. We’re going to realize that the veils between the dimensions are thinning and that there is so much more available to us. This is happening collectively as more people are making movies about ghosts and receiving help from the other side, with spokesmen like James Van Pragh and John Edward. Collectively, we are beginning to realize that there is a much greater reality than our traditional peephole vision has indicated.

Wisdom: What do you see as the future of the human condition?

Moriah: All of us will understand that we are ambassadors of the soul and not just hanging around down here, making a mess of things. We are here to serve the soul. That service will be the organizing purpose of our lives, not the ego’s agenda. As The Tibetan says, "Humankind has to mature." We have to grow up and leave our ego-based reality with all of its polarizing dynamics and move into a spiritual reality based on spiritual values, a new sense of maturation and unity. As we all assume new levels of self responsibility, the planet will change in a heart beat.  We will be releasing the illusion of isolation, scarcity and disconnect from the greater picture. There will be so much more available to us in terms of psychic gifts, creative options and real mastery. We will be working together as one family. That’s going to be a whole new ball game. It’s pretty exciting.

Wisdom: What role does the Tibetan play in the consciousness revolution you speak about in your articles and book?

Moriah: Along with the other Masters, the Tibetan influences thousands of students and helps us link to our Higher Self or have a greater sense of our soul. He also works to expand our inner vision. When people have sat with the Tibetan in our seminars, they receive a profound sense of counseling on a soul level. His powerful force field serves as a magnet to access the bigger picture. Amazingly, what The Tibetan is doing, which we desperately need, is assuring us that we are moving through a very positive process. He infuses us with optimism at a very challenging time on the planet. He helps us stay in that positive framework so that we can open to and work with what is unfolding, rather than contracting into a negative ball of misery.  He keeps reminding us that there is a larger transformational opportunity happening here and to trust the good news. He comes as a guide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Wisdom: Do you find that he guides you on day to day kinds of things? Do you check in with him?

Moriah: He does. He is always available when I need him. Often I forget to ask for help because I am running on my own agenda. He’s always there. I have to slow myself down and quiet my mind and ego to listen to him. I can tend to be a rather unruly student which he often teases me about.

Wisdom: What does he mean when he talks about the ‘birth of a new cosmic day’?

Moriah: He and many other teachers proclaim that we are moving into a new paradigm of consciousness -- truly a brand new reality for humanity, something we have never known before. He uses the concept of birth because this process of shifting consciousness is similar to labor pains -- contractions. The Tibetan wants us to remember that this time of trauma and darkness on the planet is the birth labor and that there is a baby - the new consciousness - that is the hugely positive outcome of all of this work. He reminds us about the process of transformation, like alchemy, when we initially go through the blackening stage, into the white and culminating in the gold. Humanity is now blackening. The Tibetan reminds us that this is part of the heightened transformation process which inevitably results in the gold. As we experience ourselves as a completely new human race, not only does our earthly world change, but our intergalactic family and the greater universe transforms as well.

Wisdom: Does this shift into a new consciousness include everyone?

Moriah: Many people think "I’m not worthy, or I haven’t meditated or I don’t eat sprouts." That headset of spiritual self-judgment is easy to fall into. Then we assume, "I’m not going to make the shift."  These energies impacting our world are really kicking up our stuff. We’re being asked to clear out gobs of karmic garbage. Because we have the assistance of these powerful energies, we don’t to have to meditate 40 years in a cave in order to get this kind of awakening movement going in the soul. Many of us are rolling up our sleeves and working hard to detoxify physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually to align ourselves.  As more of us participate in this labor, we’re holding a pretty bright torch of light. The hundredth monkey theory kicks in. The new consciousness catches like popcorn popping for everyone. The Tibetan says, "Even the green wood catches fire." There are many seasoned souls who have done a tremendous amount of this work and can catch the fire of transformation quickly. There are lots of folks on the planet who haven’t done that kind of work - the ‘green wood’ - and have layers of karmic baggage at the unconscious level. He says that this awakening is contagious. As this collective illumination starts happening, it will go ‘whoosh’ and even the green wood will catch, and we will be merrily on our way.

Wisdom: Are you writing another book?

Moriah: Yes. It’s called "Making the Shift Into the Emerging Consciousness.” It’s a guidebook that describes this entire process. It includes the ups and downs of my personal process of moving into the new consciousness, my observations of what other people are going through and the Tibetan’s teachings are blended throughout the book. All of us are being asked to step up to the plate and collaborate with this enormous change.

Wisdom: When will it be released?

Moriah: April, 2007.
